I cut this open and a wonderful, perfect watermelon smell came up and surprised me. I don't know what I was expecting but it had been so long since I'd had fresh watermelon that it was a real pleasure.
The smell filled the whole room, so when the kids walked in they instantly knew there was a watermelon somewhere.
Amazing.
I guess I've always just bought pre-packaged slices of watermelon, with no charm.
Finding joy in everyday life is the heart of this blog. I've become acutely aware that life is short and I want to enjoy the simple pleasures of it before my time is up. "Joie de Vivre" is a way for me to appreciate every day.
I found out that this idea of enjoying the simple pleasures of life is not unique to me but rather is something that's resonating with people all over the country (and maybe even the world!) I found a wonderful post about a new magazine that focuses on this subject while reading "Design Mom."
My camera, brown cardboard packages from Amazon filled with books, other people's dogs, singing, my kids laughing, ribbon-tied boxes of chocolate, a good rain storm. These are a few of my favorite things.
